Most dog foods will boast about their ingredients that keep joints and bones or muscles healthy but you should invest in a good dog supplement to ensure their diet is not a cause of poor skin health. Omega oils are essential for keeping the skin moist, supple and conditioned; they work against anything that strips the natural oils like heat and over-washing. Upon reading about the importance of omega oils, and what can cause the health of a dog’s skin to deteriorate, I could see what was contributing to the problem: mainly having our heating on for prolonged amounts of time and washing him more than in the summer (mud and snow is not a good look on his coat!).
